 Hi all,
What a great event you put on at Wressle Castle. Thanks to everyone for their hard work in making it possible:

  • Thomas, Billy and Andy for organising the event (including all the hard work running around making sure everything was in place for the event.)
  • The team who located and loaded all the living history stuff and transported all the equipment from Dobella store.
  • Eoin for the use of his works van and his work in loading and unloading.
  • Everyone who helped with putting up the living history at the castle (I helped by not being there interfering!)
  • Lynn and her team of helpers who at very little cost, fed everyone on both days. It was lovely to see and even better to eat!
  • Sue and Dave for bringing the beer and serving the troops at the castle as well as arranging the supply at the hall.
  • Zander for organising the work at Dobella and supplying the portaloos (free of charge) and Thomas and Billy for making sure they were clean and well stocked.
  • Jack for organising the gate rota and for the people who gave their time greeting the public and collecting a staggering amount of money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. You know who you are.
  • The younger members who worked their socks off putting up and taking down, loading and unloading as well as putting on great displays.
Finally, thanks to Janine for taking on the role of Officer Commanding on the field. You all make me proud to be a Lunsford.

Alnwick Castle is next, which is a Blackwell RIE. If you have not been to the castle, I can recommend it as stunning; the troublesome issue of dogs has now been resolved with a new improved camp site so all dogs are now welcome.

I hope to be there, surgery permitting! And may even stay over some where local as there is a lot to see around the area. PLEASE let Zander and Debbie know if you need pike/armour/uniform, and inform Thomas if you need muskets (Olga and Ian won’t be there).

Looking forward to it already.
Archie

For your information, the NEW dog-friendly campsite location at Alnwick for your satnavs are:

"The Peth, Alnwick NE66 2JX"
Coordinates: 55.420885, -1.706086
What Three Words: ///gestures.sheepish.shepherdess

All these take you to the layby the gate entrance is in if put into google maps or What Three Words.

Just putting the postcode in will take you to the original campsite which is approximately a mile away.
On another matter….
I have been asked to remind everyone that the closing date for nominations to the CoW is Friday 17th June 2022.
